I have volunteered for environmental projects consistently for the last 5 years. Usually for 2-3 months each year. With various teams over the years I have been the pr manager/event coordinator for such events where we put in 100 urban edible gardens in one weekend, an environmental film screening series, and a weekend camp out with 300 attendants and some very important speakers/authors to name a few.
