Meaning of Life:
I don't feel obliged by some pull of destiny to set unrealistic standards for who or what I should be. I bumble through life blissfully unconstrained from weighty decisions of a future I have no place in the planning order of. I believe we're all here as the result of pure accident. By some glorious, cosmic happenstance, a string of unlikely events, a constant repurposing of habitat, billions of years of preparatory cellular evolution have brought us to this exact moment in the vastness of time. If history of prior species is any indication, we're likely here for nothing more than a blink of the eye on the grand scale. I don't know if that gives life meaning, per se, but damned if it isn't breathtakingly beautiful.
Five Things I Can't Live Without:
Fresh air, sunshine, open space in close proximity, a palatable diet, and the presence of others.
Favorite Books:
Anything by Hemingway. I find his undertones of sarcastic humor unique for the time. The Sun Also Rises a clear star amongst them.
Don Quixote - an obviously mind-blowing work of artistry and it transcended the centuries.
And remaining atop my list from childhood, The Alchemist. To this day, the most inspirational, true testament to self that I've ever read, which results in an annual reading at the beginning of every summer.
(If you can tell from the list here, I suffer tragically from wanderlust.)
Favorite Songs:
How is anyone able to fill this out?! Eddie Vedder is my number one guy of all time, but my taste, as most everyone's is, I imagine, is quite expansive. I'm not huge on jazz, though.
Favorite Movies:
The Fountain, The Fifth Element AND Demolition Man (the two must be watched in conjunction), The Matrix trilogy, Memento, Braveheart, anything from Hayao Miyazaki.
If I Could Be Anywhere Right Now:
The ISS, of course!
Hobbies:
I'm a mountain girl, so it's probably no shocker that my hobbies should reflect on that. I enjoy midnight hikes, camping, fishing, and rock climbing. I'm also still a child inside, so I can lay in a field and contently watch clouds for hours.
Perfect Mate:
Humor is the number one seller, and transitions age and time. A sense of authenticity, warmth and kindness. An altruistic approach towards society, animals, and the environment. An adventurous spirit eager to delve into exotic, strange cultures. And, of course, someone who knows where to come home to at the end of the day to detoxify from their burdens and snuggle on the couch.
