Interests & Hobbies
Meaning of Life:
Life is a four-letter word. We have no say in entering it nor, usually, leaving it. Enjoy what you can, where and when you can, without hurting others and try to leave the world a little better than you found it. Will the last one out, please turn off the lights.
Five Things I Can't Live Without:
Earth, air, fire, water, books ( oh, and garlic!)
Favorite Books:
Thomas Harris, Larry Niven, Julian May, Bujold's 'Vorkosigan' series, John Le Carre, military/naval/aviation history, pretty well any cookery book
What I Like To Do For Fun:
Talk, listen (hard!). Try different foods & recipes. Most of all, READ! The brain is a muscle which requires exercise and reading is FUN!
Favorite Songs:
Enya, Horslips, Pink Floyd, Penguin Cafe Orchestra. Classical esp. Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Karl Jenkins and opera
Favorite Movies:
Father Goose, Gladiator, Fargo, Amadeus, I Claudius (TV). B/W classics e.g.The Philadelphia Story, Casablanca, Double Indemnity, The Maltese Falcon, The Cruel Sea, Arsenic & Old Lace. Practically any Billy Wilder film. Good SF e.g. Blade Runner, 2001.
Craziest Thing I've Ever Done:
Snailing, as a student (like streaking, only slower)
If I Could Be Anywhere Right Now:
In bed with my (unattainable) love
Hobbies:
Reading, cooking, word puzzles
Talents:
Cooking. General Knowledge quizzing. I've also been told I'm pretty good at karaoke
Perfect Mate:
Willing to tidy up after me as long as I provide good cooking and loving
Perfect Date:
Impossible combination of Kathryn & Audrey Hepburn, Ellen Page, Gwyneth Paltrow, Susannah York, Susan Penhaligon and Susan George - well, it does say 'perfect' and perfection is impossible
Turn Ons/Offs:
ON: unshaven; really stiff nips; intelligence & sense of humour (not necessarily all in that order);
OFF: inappropriate vulgarity; stupidity
Best Reason to Get to Know Me:
Beneath the bulk of my shy exterior is a warm and faithful person looking to share love, and I have always found my greatest happiness in the satisfaction of my partner rather than myself
